Uni Athletics Mission Statement

The mission of University High School Athletics is to provide student-athletes with an opportunity to compete in a high school athletic program that compliments their overall educational experience. More importantly, the UHS Athletic Department is strongly committed to the Six Tenets of Pursuing Victory with Honor: Caring, Citizenship, Fairness, Respect, Responsibility, and Trustworthiness.  Our athletic programs seek to instill good sportsmanship and citizenship, promote and develop leadership qualities on and off the field, and to foster discipline, dedication and hard work while striving to compete at the highest level.

 

Athletic Eligibility Overview

The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), the governing body of prep sports in the state of California requires the following of each student who wishes to participate in a high school athletic program:

Academic

-Students must have and maintain a 2.00 or “C” Grade Point Average at the Midterm and Final grading marks (10 and 20 week reports each semester).

Annual Medical Physical Exam

-All student athletes must have an annual physical completed by a medical doctor.

-All physical forms must be submitted on LAUSD/CIF approved forms (See Athletic Forms)

-All required fields must be completely filled out with the doctor’s official ink stamp and signature.

- All students participating in tryouts must have a completed and submitted physical exam prior to actual tryouts per CIF rules and regulations.

Proof of Medical Insurance

-All student athletes show proof of valid medical insurance. (official insurance card )

-School athletic health insurance may also be purchased through the approved LAUSD vendor.

Enrollment and Age

  • Student athletes have (8) consecutive semesters of eligibility
  • The eligibility “clock” begins upon initial (9th) grade enrollment no matter where a student began high school. (Any country, state, school district or school).

 

Golf League Championship - Uni wins 2nd place in the team event and three students placed in the individuals. Vishal Vinodh (5th place), Lawrence Kim (7th), and Noah Flournoy (10th).  Congratulations Wildcats!
